Dear President Bush:

I am a small business owner in the State of Colorado.  I have raised
my children, paid my taxes, abided by the laws of our land.  I have
four relatives who are current graduates of the Air Force Academy and are
serving their country as I write this.  My husband=92s father served
in World War II, lost a younger brother on Iwo Jima, had an older brother
in the Baton March.  I have a sister-in-law who is Mexican, four
beautiful nieces who are part Mexican.  I am not a racist, an unkind
person.  My husband and I pay a full tithing on our gross income to
our church.  We help out with money and time and energy to our
neighbors in need.

Now I expect you and our Congress to enforce the laws that are in place
now regarding immigration.  I expect you to protect our borders and
do what you said you would do.  You and others who have money at
their disposal and will, more than likely, not be utilizing our Social
Security system for your retirement are not even paying attention to
people like me.  I have never, ever benefited, knowingly, by the use
of illegal immigrants.  I am appalled that the businesses that are
so doing are not punished to the full extent of our law.   Let
us pay more for goods =96 would that really hurt anybody?  I believe
the ski industry here in Colorado is guilty of breaking the law re
illegals.  Where=92s the IRS?  Where=92s the enforcement?  Ar=
e
you not hearing what I and millions of legal American citizens are
saying?  You and Congress seem bent on passing reforms on
immigration, pushing it through.  And what moneys are you going to
use to supposedly enforce what=92s being proposed?  This is
wrong.  What about all the other people waiting to come to this
wonderful land?  What about all the immigrants who have worked hard,
learned the language, and come here legally?  How fair is all this
=93reform=94 legislation to them?

I am begging you to stand for the right.  I=92ve supported your fight
on terror, and now I feel like you didn=92t really mean what you=92ve been
saying.  You know that all kinds of people are crossing our southern
borders, not just hard-working, poor people.  Are you really going
to let all that you=92ve stood for go for naught?  This is so
inconsistent.  And if there is not enough in our Social Security to
provide me the retirement moneys I have counted on, can I call you up for
the money?  Probably not.  This is my country, too.  And I
don=92t believe I=92m alone when I say that I am beginning to tire of no one
in Washington listening to the people.  Maybe all of us should just
stop paying income tax =96 will we get a slap on the hand, a $5,000 fine,
and be good to go?  And if not, why not???  Why shouldn=92t I be
=93given=94 what people who are here illegally are getting?  Stop the
wrong from both sides =96 the illegals coming in; those who are providing
the jobs.

Sincerely,

Dawn Eastman
